Baladi with a Stick (Julia Farid’s Choreography — from “Baladi Tapestry” Intensive, Zoom, part of Tips4Hips Membership Program)
About
A playful choreography inspired by Fifi Abdou, blending traditional baladi energy with expressive character and charm.
This choreography is set to “Hassan Yakhoul” from Yasmina of Cairo’s CD and is inspired by the legendary Fifi Abdou, whose name is inseparable from the essence of authentic baladi. The choreography reflects the earthy charm, inner power and playful attitude that define this style.
The second part of the piece introduces the baladi stick, inviting dancers to explore character work, rhythm and dynamic changes with a traditional prop.
In this workshop I break down every step in detail, explaining how to engage your muscles correctly to create the signature juicy, grounded baladi quality. You will learn how to express the music from within your body, how to transition naturally and how to dance with both confidence and personality.
Suitable for intermediate and advanced dancers who want to deepen their baladi technique and stage presence.
